CREATING OUTLINES and REVIEWING DRAFTS OF ESSAYS and RESEARCH PAPERS:
Learning how to construct proper outlines is a key step toward writing organized, properly analyzed papers. I help students to develop strong thesis statements, write smooth paragraph transitions, and choose and explain appropriate quotes. I'm always willing to review a student's essay draft or research paper for content, organization, grammar, and proper vocabulary.
EVALUATING LITERATURE:
As an avid reader, I’m always happy to read the novels, plays, and poems my students are assigned to enable thoughtful discussions of key passages. Literature is more challenging at the high school level, in terms of themes, vocabulary, and teacher's expectations.
READING, WRITING, and ESSAY SECTIONS OF THE SAT/ACT:
As a longtime SAT/ACT tutor for the Writing, Reading, and Essay sections, I'm happy to share my knowledge and helpful test taking tips with my students. I recommend starting with the Official SAT/ACT study guides, which I supplement with materials I've created myself. My SAT and ACT students have enjoyed substantial improvement in their scores.
